This dampens the tire’s performance in cold or wet conditions unfortunately. Sport tires need to have a certain amount of tread to be street legal but the more performance oriented the tire is the less tread it ends up having. The shallow and minimalistic tread designs ensure the most amount of rubber possible is in contact with the road, giving you maximum grip.

The soft compound wears quicker than your average tire and are prone to hardening after a certain number of heat cycles. Most people don’t have the chance to heat up their tires and enjoy them properly on a morning commute. If your racecar is also your DD then these would make sense. These racing compounds need to be used on a track or on some very spirited weekend riding to be utilized properly.
Choosing the proper tire isn’t rocket science but a little research about your type of driving and the conditions your vehicle will be in translate to much better handling on the road. Riding in winter conditions with all season or sports tires will result in a lot of the benefits those tires offer being negated by the bad weather. The same thing goes for winter tires being used in hot or dry conditions. They’ll still work in hot conditions but the deep grooves and tread patterns make braking ,acceleration and overall handling much worse than stock. Not to mention uneven wear which means you will end up replacing your tires more often also.
